J. Patrick Rooney, father of the HSA and former chairman of Golden Rule Insurance , passed away this week.
“He will also be remembered as the father of the Health Savings Account, the leading free-market reform to the current crisis of the uninsured in America,” said Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind. “His unshakeable belief in the ability of the individual to make their own health care choices has shaped the American health care debate for the past decade.”
Earlier this year he co-authored the book America’s Healthcare Crisis Solved, a hands-on guide for consumers that heavily features Health Savings Accounts. The Washington Times also has a great read on this.
